Colchester Fire & EMS is currently looking to recruit motivated individuals who want to serve their community as firefighters and emergency medical service providers. The minimum age for applicants for the senior department is 18 years of age. However, for those under the age of 18, we have a cadet program for those aged 14-17. Eighty percent of all fire personnel in Connecticut are volunteers, and many fire departments, like Colchester Fire & EMS, throughout the state are experiencing a volunteer shortage. Our organization needs volunteers of all skill levels and abilities, people willing and able to respond to emergencies whenever called upon.

Colchester Fire & Emergency Medical Services
Colchester Fire & Emergency Medical Services is a combination fire department comprised of career firefighters and volunteer members that are responsible for fire protection, emergency medical response, rescue services, hazardous materials response, and a multitude of other emergent and non-emergent calls for service. Additionally, Colchester Fire & EMS provides public education and outreach services in conjunction with the Fire Marshal’s Office.

About Colchester Fire & Emergency Medical Services
Founded in 1854, Colchester Fire & EMS is committed to providing for the safety and welfare of the 49.8 square mile community’s 15,552 residents through the preservation of life, property, and the environment. Currently, Colchester Fire & EMS Operates out of two fire stations with 17 pieces of apparatus and several support/command vehicles.
