In an effort to simplify this process, we have made some enhancements to this year’s application process. Please follow these instructions step by step to ensure we receive your completed application.
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND COMPLETELY
If you are a graduating High School senior, a resident of Colchester, and planning to further your education beyond High School, you ARE eligible to receive our scholarship.
Step 1) Please make sure that you meet the following eligibility requirements:
Applicants:
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Must be a full time resident of Colchester, CT.
Must be planning to enroll in at least two (2) courses during the next term.
Step 2) Obtain an application from your Guidance department or from the Colchester Hayward Volunteer Fire Company Headquarters, 52 Old Hartford Rd. NOTE: A copy of an Original application is acceptable.
Step 3) Complete all portions of the Application (typed or in black ink).
Step 4) On separate 8.5” x 11” paper complete a one or two page typewritten essay describing your past contributions to the Colchester Community, include a paragraph or two about your educational and personal goals, list ALL of your recent voluntary activities in school, government, athletics and any other civic involvements.

Step 5) Submit the completed application and attachments to:

Applications are due at Fire Headquarters BEFORE midnight of the Bacon Academy Guidance Dept. Deadline.
If you are included among the finalist you will hear from the CHVFC scholarship committee regarding setting up a 30 minute personal interview, date and time. Preferably scheduled for an evening early in the month of April.
